Why does my 360 video look flat?
An equirectangular file stores the whole sphere as a stretched 2:1 rectangle. Those are the image pixels. Separate GPano or spherical-video metadata tells a compatible app to wrap those pixels around an interactive sphere. If an editor strips that metadata, YouTube or another viewer may treat the file as an ordinary flat frame.
Metadata is not always the cause. A wrong aspect ratio, projection, codec, stitch, or export can look similar. Metadata Doctor identifies the supported metadata it can read; it does not guess or rebuild the underlying panorama.
A common YouTube case
You have a correctly stitched equirectangular MP4, but YouTube shows a wide, distorted rectangle and never enables 360° navigation. If the spherical-video metadata is missing, this tool can add it to a new copy. If the export itself is not equirectangular, metadata alone will not fix it.

Supported file types

MP4 and MOV containers. The repair adds Spherical Video V2 metadata without transcoding the video stream.
Not supported: original GoPro .360 files, non-equirectangular exports, stitching errors, or damaged media. Export or convert those files correctly before checking their metadata.

Privacy: your file stays in your browser
Inspection and repair run in a browser Web Worker with a Rust/WebAssembly module. Your photo or video contents are not uploaded to Mirame360. For corrected videos, supported browsers can stream the output to disk; other browsers may need to hold the output in memory and will warn before repairing files over 2 GB.
Common problems this check can clarify
- MP4 appears flat: the equirectangular pixels are present, but spherical-video metadata was lost during export.
- JPEG opens as a wide strip: the panoramic image has no GPano XMP for a compatible photo viewer to recognize.
- An editor removed metadata: saving a new copy can preserve pixels while discarding the spherical instructions.
- Viewer controls never appear: the player may not detect the file as 360°, or may not support its actual format or projection.

Why does my 360 video appear flat on YouTube?
YouTube needs spherical-video metadata to recognize an equirectangular MP4 or MOV as interactive 360° content. Missing metadata is a common cause of a flat upload, but an incorrect projection, aspect ratio, codec, or export can cause similar symptoms.
What is spherical-video metadata?
It is information stored in a video container that identifies the projection as spherical. Metadata Doctor checks for the Spherical Video V2 structure used to mark supported MP4 and MOV files as equirectangular 360° video.
What is GPano metadata?
GPano is XMP metadata used by panoramic photos. It records details such as the equirectangular projection and full panorama dimensions so compatible viewers know how to wrap flat image pixels around a sphere.
Does Metadata Doctor upload my file?
No. Your file contents stay in your browser and are processed by a Web Worker using WebAssembly. The file is not uploaded to Mirame360.
Which photo and video formats are supported?
Metadata Doctor supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP photos, plus MP4 and MOV videos. Original GoPro .360 files are not supported and must first be exported to an equirectangular format.
Can the tool repair every broken 360° file?
No. It can add missing GPano metadata to supported photos and missing Spherical Video V2 metadata to supported video containers. It cannot repair corrupt files, every codec or container variation, or metadata that is present but semantically wrong.
Will it fix an incorrectly exported or non-equirectangular video?
No. Adding metadata cannot change the underlying pixels. The tool does not stitch, reproject, transcode, or correct a bad export. Confirm that the source is a properly stitched equirectangular panorama before adding metadata.
Do I need a Mirame360 account?
No. Checking, repairing, and downloading a supported file is free and does not require an account. An account is only needed if you choose to host and share the result with Mirame360.
